a lot has changed since i last updated.

1. i secured a job for next year- my first year as a doctor. awesome. my future and career seems a lot less uncertain at this point. i am greatly blessed. and many many people to thank! (gotta get thank you cards for them)

2. one of my best friends got married. and i wasnt even there. congrats, mrs ang!

3. went to a jazz club this tue with mahesh to see my friend lizzie (formerly known as my favourite red-head, she is now brunette) perform. she was the female vocal. OMG she was amazing! and we had a lot of fun. very very enjoyable night with great music. also managed to catch up with a few pple including gordon, alison, russell. was awesome! will definitely go to that club again. mahesh and i plan to make that our monthly activity.

4. ok, remember i had a steamboat dinner planned for the night that shanna arrived? oh well i got everything ready (assembling a steamboat dinner is actually a lot more logistically trying than it sounds, especially when you dont have a car or a pair of extra hands). so shanna reached home that night and everything was ready. i plugged in the electric stove and it tripped my mains. the mains thingy was locked inside this room that we dont have access to, so we lived the rest of the night in total darkness (almost, but we had a torch and we managed to steal some electricity vis numerous extension cords). i ended up cooking the dinner stuff on the gas stove and we ate some 40 minutes later. i think the dinner was quite yum tho! but i was super apologetic +++

5. got the latest harry potter book. and i am only about 100 pages in. gosh. i am slow.

6. i made some chinese soup. it's really yum. i miss being at home where every meal is cooked for me. fresh soup everyday. dishes are clean. everything's clean and nice and done and ready and warm. sigh.

7. back to uni on monday! excited. oh gosh. my friend is gonna be the intern in the unit that i am attached to! awesome! maybe can get free rides from her hahaha.

went to the hospital today and got introduced to the MOs. nice. they were nice. nothing much to do so i left early. only 2 registrars on for the day. no theatre. no clinics. so... meh!

cooking a huge hotpot dinner for shanna's welcome tonight. will be fun. everyone will be here.

dont really feel like blogging even tho i have a lot of free time now. hmm.. what to say.. i passed my nightmare exam! :)

easy to make sandwich fillings...

1. Egg and Mayonaise

boil the egg in water for 5 minutes, shell it
mash it in a small bowl
add 1/2 tablespoon of mayo
(you can also make your own variations like adding corn kernels etc)

2. tuna, avocado, mayo

small can of tuna (in springwater or olive oil), drain
scoop flesh of 1/2 avocado, (optional add 1 teaspoon of lemonjuice)
add mayo and mash/mix well

mm.. just saw pictures of MY dad, My mom and their daughter, Siobhan happily partying in Europe! :'( and i'm still having exams! Imagine how sad i'd be if I saw My parents and My sisters and ALL THE TAMS IN THE WORLD including My cousins and My aunts and My nieces and nephews partying in US next week and I'm still stuck here having exams?!

Two nights ago I even dreamed (dreamt?!) that i had made it there to US in time for Jackie's wedding dinner, and I did it secretly so that I could surprise my Aunt! how sad. Oh man! N I dont get to meet Vanessa and Ben Wong!

oh well.. had the first night of insomnia in a long time last night. I wasnt doing much work the entire day (i thought i wasnt stressed) but i think insomnia is the pathognomic sign that I am actually anxious.

got up with a slight headache but went to get coffee and hotcakes for brekky (at 10!) exam in less than 2 hours brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr..

ok since no one wished me luck since the last post i shall wish myself luck. good luck tiffy

hahaha.. tmr's my big peds exam! i know that the proper name for cradle crap/crab/cap is seborrhoeic dermatitis exacerbated by yeast infection. oh well..

had the nicest surprise by shanna the other day. delivery for shanna tam, i read the back label and it was from a perfume place.. then i thought... hmm.. really curious as to what she got. was it her ralph or my lolita lempicka? SHE GOT IT FOR ME!!! :..( seriously, who needs a bf when she has a sister like shanna!

mahesh and i pre-ordered Harry Potter yesterday!!!!!!! 21 JUL! Cant wait man! awww..

and this keeps getting better, Harry Potter and the Order of Phoenix is opening in Melbourne on Jul 12!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! argh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! to say that i m excited is a gross understatement!

ok enough of the nice-ties. focus on the exam for now! :P

had the most leisurely day. haha. that is 4 days before major exam, man will u believe it!

sigh. spent all morning in lectures- they were useful, many were revision lectures. i'm starting to get really freaked out about dermatology. it is so vague but yet so specialised! and kids! they are full of funny skin lesions any day!

came home for a surprise! mahesh was home! :) spent all arvo doing nothing in particular, something that i shd NOT be doing 4 days before exams. but he is good for my emotional-psychological wellbeing! :) tried to teach some some pediatric surgery i think he also found rather fascinating. :)

ok.. will try to finish round one of pediatrics revision and quickly go on to the next round!

dunno how come whenever exams is impending, i will start to shove every imaginable food down my throat. gummy bears, cheesecake, sandwiches, soup (yummy minestrone prepared by shanna!).. everything.. i'm almost insatiable! oh well....

planning a trip to queensland after exams! exciting. and also looking forward to "Transformers" night on Tue week with the 4 of us! can hardly wait! and friday week i'm going on a date!

hmm.. doing med is great!

I now have in mind specific surgeons and physicians to send loved ones to in case they run into trouble.

I have already figured out the person I wanna go to in the event that I require a caesarean section. which pediatrician to bring my kids to if they have medical issues, or behavioral issues (2 separate ones!). I know whom I wanna go to for bowel resection and wide local excisions. or when my joints hurt too much which very patient (but a bit boring) rheumatologist to visit! I even know the person whom i wanna do my antenatal scanning with! coolios

oh a slightly different note, been awesome at clinics with Dr R! He's the most awesome sweetest loveliest consultant in the world, to his patients, their families, to students and to everyone else. He let us see our own patients and present to him. Not that I havent done that before. But it is very VERY useful doing it. A bendigo surgeon used to let us see our own patients in clinic and even dictate letters to GPs or refer them on etc.

saw 3 kids in clinic yesterday. Was awesome. D&V, FTT, and hip pain, all core topics for the examination. Even wrote my own path slip. (not that i havent done it b4)

hoping to make either mango cake or cheesecake tonite. depending on what ingredients we acquire. went to get a heater for my poorly insulated room and body today. Oil heater, 4 fins. 1000w. hope it tides me over this winter.

EVERY SINGLE PERSON IN THE TAM FAMILY IS GOING TO JACK"S WEDDING AND GUESS WHO'LL BE MISSING IT! ME!!!!!!!!! :'( VERY VERY UNFORTUNATE. IT WAS ALL MY OWN FAULT ACTUALLY. I REMEMBER AUNT DAISY ASKING ME ABOUT THIS TIME LAST YEAR THE DATE THAT I FINISH MY EXAM THIS YEAR, AND I SAID OH SHD BE ALL DONE BEFORE END OF JUNE! SO SHE HAPPILY SET THE DATE AS 7JUL, THINKING THAT I'D HAVE AT LEAST A WEEK TO GET MY ASS THERE. BUT NO!!!!!!!!!!!! MY EXAM FINISHES ON 6JUN, AT NOON!

for me to finish and rush to the airport to fly to sydney to transit in LA or SF then catch domestic to Boston, all this would take me at least 36 hours, by which time the wedding thingy would have commenced and I will be crying at Logan cos no one would wanna come get me! to add insult to injury, I've got job interviews on 10Jul in australia. So, if i get there on 7 jul, i pretty much have to leave immediately like on the same day to come back in time for that. smart. very very very smart. so in summary, I will have to miss the first family reunion in the millennium. very sad. To be honest I think aunt Daisy is more devastated than I am. She spent hours surfing the net trying to get me there the quickest possible way. YES SHE USES THE INTERNET how cute!!!!!!!!!! also, mom and dad are gonna be there too. and bon. awwwwwwwwwww.

on a more positive note, I will spend my 3 week break 1. earning $, 2. finding a job, a real one!, 3. learning more about pediatric surgery, 4. preparing for a prize exam, maybe. maybe. 5. extract my wisdom tooth, since i am so full of wisdom just as i am!

I LOVE MY PHONE BATTERY, IT LASTS FOREVER AND EVER. I have not experienced the phone "dying on me" for... a year! fail proof! haha.. and guess what, this phone was the cheapest replacement phone from nokia that i could find when i cracked the other screen early last year. happy one year anniversary, darling. We've been thru so much together! Loves and Losses. Laughters and Tears! :) I find no reason to change to any other phone except that this phone has a sharp edge that had cut me once and i bled, AND.. it's flip and has no display on the top so if i missed a call or want the time, i need to anticipate and flip open to check conscientiously.

oh well. no time to think abt phone stuff now anyway! 17 days to first exam. still dunno shit. still have assignment to complete. boy, am i screwed! :)

:) been having a good life... shanna made the best tiramisu. both mahesh and i LOVED it. In fact mahesh loved it so much that he is coming round for (not me) more of that cake!

well what have i been up to ey? study, classes and most importantly, job applications. they are actually not that hard to do, just really time consuming! applying for jobs like... can never really give you peace of mind no matter how on-time you actually are! it's unbelievable! sigh. the deadline is jun 14 so I hope everything runs relatively well until then, and from then it would be full steam ahead for the exams!!

sigh, and how big is my exams this semester- dont ask- probably the biggest exam in my whole life!

someone i once treasured had came back into my life and took off again. LIFE- unpredictable. oh well- better finish typing this cover letter of mine and go for class! :(

btw, my sleeping pattern has reverted to very normal, thanks to mahesh! i sleep before midnight everyday and get up around 8 or 9! how normal am I?!?! :)

oh well, things have taken quite a nasty turn of late. I hope i recover from this hiatus and regain function soon. sometimes I wish time was a little more merciful. Like, when I am having a bad day (like today, and yesterday), if time could just stand still and let me mourn n mope around for a bit. Resisted multiple episodes of what could have been me bursting into tears in public today. HAHAHA. I kept telling myself: when i come home i can cry all I want, just not outside, OK?

but guess what: i came home just feeling stoic and not even remotely close to wanting to cry! oh well. time to stone for a lil bit then dinner n do some work. need to write a few cover letters tonight! and do some studying! argh!
